Marcha este lunes 22 de octubre, Parque Porras 4:00 p.m. También en Changuinola y David. Encuentro Nacional de Dirigentes, martes 23 de octubre Hotel Soloy. Huelga de ANPATE este lunes 22 de octubre.
Hoy, Saúl Méndez, Secretario General del SUNTRACS y Coordinador de FRENADESO, junto a David Niño responsable de la Seccional del SUNTRACS de Colón, anunciaron al pueblo colonense el apoyo irrestricto de sus organizaciones con el aguerrido pueblo colonense en su lucha por la derogación de la Ley 72 que remata los terrenos de la Zona Libre de Colón.
En tal sentido, el SUNTRACS se suma así al paro de 48 horas prorrogables convocado por las fuerzas vivas de la provincia. Ello significa la paralización total de la actividad de la construcción en dicha provincia, incluido el proyecto de Ampliación del Canal en el sector Atlántico.
En un mitin celebrado en calle 10, frente a la Iglesia de San José, tras una marcha negra realizada hoy domingo 21 de octubre, Saúl Méndez, colonense de nacimiento expresó el respaldo del SUNTRACS, FRENADESO y el FAD a la lucha colonense, reiteró el llamado a la gran marcha de mañana lunes 22 de octubre, a las 4:00 p.m. en Panamá y simultánea en David y Changuinola; y al Encuentro Nacional de Dirigentes Populares a celebrarse este martes 23 de octubre en el Hotel Soloy a las 5:00 p.m.
Condenó la violación de los derechos humanos del pueblo colonense por parte del régimen sanguinario de Ricardo Martinelli y expresó sus condolencias a los familiares del niño José Patricio Vega, de sólo 9 años, muerto por disparo de bala de la Policía Nacional.
Más adelante publicaremos un amplio reportaje sobre las acciones de hoy, con la participación de varios dirigentes populares de Colón.
El video a continuación es el acto de ASOPROF en solidaridad con el pueblo de Colón realizado el sábado 20 de octubre.
Mañana 22 de octubre inicia también el paro indefinido de los Auxiliares y Técnicos de Enfermería que convoca ANPATE.

This year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City a week before our protest will be dedicated to our political prisoner Oscar López Rivera.
On Monday, June 23, 2014, the United Nations (UN) will be discussing again Puerto Rico’s colonial relationship with the United States. The UN is in its third decade trying to eradicate colonialism from the world, because of the belief that it constitutes a threat to world peace. Since this date is a week later than usual, our committee decided to have 2 protests this year.
On the Monday, June 16, 2014, the day after Fathers’ Day, we will have our first protest in the park across from the UN on 46th Street and First Avenue from 8 AM to 5 PM to show the world that we too believe that colonialism is a crime against humanity. On the same day of the hearing, Monday June 23, we will have the second one. We will have a press conference in New York City to inform the public of the latest details of these event. We will need as many people at the protest as possible to make the government of the United States (US) comply with the 32 UN resolutions asking the US to decolonize immediately Puerto Rico. After this many resolutions, it is obvious that the US does not want to.
President Obama recently showed the government of the United States’ hypocrisy about human rights. In his memorial ceremony speech, he had only praise for Nelson Mandela. He, however, has refused, despite the enormous pressure from Puerto Rico and the rest of the world, to release from prison Oscar López Rivera who is doing exactly what Mandela did. Oscar has already spent 6 more years in prison than the 27 that Mandela served. The US is happy when other countries decolonize their colonies, but the US wants to keep hers. What kind of democracy is this? Obviously, those who have colonies don’t believe in justice for all.
Please tell your friends about this important protest for Oscar López Rivera’s release from prison, and to achieve what he has spent his life on, the decolonization of Puerto Rico.
